The Importance of Covering Snowmobiles

Monday, March 8th, 2010

As February comes to an end and rolls into March, winter will soon become spring, bringing green leaves, warmer weather, and puddles of melted snow. This is a long awaited event anticipated by those sick of icy roads and snow shoveling all winter long. For some however, the end of winter means reluctantly packing up the snow gear and preparing for the long haul until the next winter’s first snow. Although often overlooked, storing snowmobiles improperly can lead to an unpleasant surprise the following winter.

Tree sap, bird droppings, dirt, sun, rain, and dust can ruin the exterior as well as the engine of a snowmobile. Most of these things can be very hard to clean off, especially if it has been on the snowmobile for multiple months. You can also scratch the finished if you do try to clean it off the snowmobile. If you wait to wash your snowmobile the following winter, ice can build up on the exterior and damage the paint. If the snowmobile is exposed to water, rust can eat away at the finish and do damage to the engine. The sun’s UV rays are harmful to the snowmobile as well because it can break down the softer areas such as the seat. Leave your snowmobile indoors? Mold and mildew can grow, which can be harmful to both the snowmobile, and the air you are storing it in.

An easy way to remedy this is to store it with a cover. Covers can prevent indoor and outdoor toxins from damaging your snowmobile. At Empirecovers.com, we have two durable 100% waterproof covers made out of high quality nylon to keep out dust and other debris. They are also breathable to keep out water, mold, and mildew. Each cover comes with a full elastic hem for a secure fit. The trailerable covers come with 8 straps to secure the cover while towing. And because we stand behind all of our products, our snowmobile covers come with a 2 year warranty. Don’t have a snowmobile? Our covers make great gifts!

Ice on cars

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Although most winter storms don’t produce this much ice, it is still a hassle getting ice off your car, especially early in the morning when it’s the coldest outside.  There are ways, however, to help make this process a little easier for you.  First, turn your car on and your defroster on low but high heat.   Then, clear the car of any snow.  After that, spray a defrosting solution on the surface of the car.  Lastly, scrape the ice off with a scraper or a credit card.

If scraping is not for you, there are other easier and less time consuming alternatives to this.  A car cover is a great way to prevent ice from building up on your car.  At EmpireCovers.com, we sell covers that will protect specifically from water and snow.  If a layer of ice does build up on the car, you can pour some hot water on your car to melt it.  Check out our selection of covers at Empirecovers.com and end your ice problem today!

Leaves Damaging Cars

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year in the United States as trees prepare for winter by shedding their leaves. The process of changing foliage is loved by many, as leaves change vibrant colors and eventually fall to the ground. Although beautiful, these leaves can be a bit of work to keep up.

They can clog gutters, make roads slippery, and leave behind sappy residue. In fact, if the leaves build up on your car, they can leave behind permanent stains that damage the exterior. Leaves are loaded with sap, pollen, and other acidic coatings that transfer on to the car when left for long periods of time.

If you are concerned about these fallen leaves damaging your car, the best thing you can do to ensure protection is to cover it with a truck cover or car cover. Not only will you be protecting your car from stains, but it’ll be protected from scratches from the leaves as well. Car covers are a low-cost way to make sure your car stays clean and damage free from falling leaves. It will also give you the peace of mind that your car is safe and undamaged. Covering your car will protect it against factors such as rain, dust, wind, snow, ice, sun, and other environmental issues. As the weather gets cooler in the winter, protecting your car against these elements can increase the life of your exterior.  Make sure your car is safe this fall season and protect it with a Max cover from Empirecovers.com. This cover is top of the line and will get the job done all winter long. You wouldn’t go into the cold without a coat, don’t let your car either!

Max Truck Cover Rave Reviews

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Recent review from one of our recent customers:

“I had one of those other custom covers. You know the ones, custom cab and bed fit with the Dumbo ears. Well it got damaged and I needed a new cover. My truck is “my precious pride and joy” and I was unsure about purchasing a “less expensive” cover.

I live in HOT south Florida with lots of thunderstorms.
I just took the cover off today, after two weeks, expecting that I needed to wash the truck. The black interior was cool and the truck was perfectly clean on the outside!
Not a spot!

In the mornings lots of water is on the cover.
This is either from the nights rain or morning dew. I believe the shape (angled down from cab to tailgate) helps keeps water from sitting on the cover and the cover from laying on the truck. I have a black tonneau cover that’s always a huge pain to keep really clean and spot free.
Not a spot!

On the downside: I can not get the cover to fit back in the bag it came in. (Sigh) I must admit, “It HAD to fit back in the bag”, was not a needed requirement.

This cover has exceeded my expectations.
I HIGHLY recommend the Empire MAX cover!!!”

How truck cover works

The main thing to show is how the truck cover goes vertically from the cab to the end of the bed- that is to prevent water from building up in the bed. The water should roll off the bed if the fit is good. if you are having problems with the fit just fold in the mirrors. THank you
